Source: uhavenothin2losebuturchainsIn late May 2012, the NATO Summit thunders through the city of Chicago. Early Wednesday morning in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, one hundred and fifty rag-tag, passionate revolutionaries board three buses. In standard Occupy fashion, we are two hours late and loosely but organically…
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I’m dying
Are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It’s a very, very mad world mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what’s my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me
And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I’m dying
Are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It’s a very, very mad world … mad world
Enlarging your world
Mad world
We never had true democracy….
We need to take our power and fix this we are what is stoping democracy from happening getting involved and participating in our democracy which is what true democracy is….
Look at voter turn out?
Older /white /Protestant /males
They get what they want because they are always participating in their government
Look at young voter turn out ???
look at minority voter turn out ???
If we actually participated in these elections and in our policies. We could change this and if it doesn’t it will wean a huge generation away from government and on to self government or new system.
I know the constitution was built on slavery and white men made it.
But it also states that when the system no longer works for the people we the people have the right to destroy abolish and replace with a new system.
Which through direct democratic participation we can and will build this new world and system that works for all.
Direct democracy is just that where all people have say on issues that affect them.
If capitalism is the problem than as a people we must address this and put this on the table to discuss solutions.
To many capitalism has been the solution but for others not so this needs to start being discussed.
What can the new system look like ?
Why has this ideology been historically brought up…
What is the change from now to past movements who have had these thoughts….
Philosophers for many years discussed and pondered on this…. From the days Machiavelli brought realism.
We don’t need to go into our system and work with it.
We need to question the establishment and come up with answers which will lead to solutions.
People as Howard zinn states in his book have had this fluid theory it’s universal but either fall back and accept it as reality or continue in the struggle.
Ever wonder why activists , artists , poets, etc don’t make as much money. Because its not the norm and it questions the establishment. Thinking on your own is very dangerous to the establishment.
